Message I have done timing belt change two times on non-Z vehicles before but 60K service for Z32 way more complicated than those previous ones! After two days of work, bleeding knuckles, lots of sweat and foul language Z is ready to be started tomorrow! Twinturbo guide helped me a lot, I'm glad that there is such an awesome community and site here!

I changed everything what was included in Z1 60k timing belt service kit. The Most Royal Major Pain In The Ass was the crank sprocket. Spent 5 hours removing it and another hour to get new one back in. There were a lot of rust on crank/sprocket area and I used Scotch Brite to get rid of it. I used industrial grade anti seize when installing new sprocket to prevent new sprocket to get stuck.

After that I was able to begin installing timing belt and that also had little problems but it was quite easy. Cam gears rotated few times but nothing bad. I set belt and checked that belt lines align with sprocket timing marks and was able to get auto-tensioner gap to 4.4 mm (FSM says 3.5 to 5.2 mm). After that I checked timing marks and they were OK. Finally I rotated engine 4 more revolutions from crank sprocket to make sure valves won't say hello to pistons. Idler pulleys had no play and made no noises, rolled with a moderately less resistance than new auto-tensioner. I made some plans to change them at some point in near future though. I used paper gasket for water pump and used torque wrench for every bolt and nut.

I hope that everything is OK with belt and no disaster will follow. If someone found some alarming info, please let me know! I plan to first start without fuel pump relay to make sure that nothing bad happens and after that do normal start.

Overall I'm guite happy that I decided to do this myself. I have had no hurry, sun has been shining the whole time, old-fashioned "sauna" every evening, cold beer now and then, barbecued some food during breaks, dad has been helping around and I have of course learned a lot and VG30DETT is a now little less fearsome mechanical monster. And a little motivation was that local stealership would have asked over $1000 to do the job (no parts included).

Next thing for me to do is to change front wheel bearing to daily driver car but that in entirely different story (even though that car has similiar front suspension design).
